Abstract
Moderate or Intense Low-oxygen Dilution(MILD) combustion is considered as one of the promising combustion technologies that reduce pollutant emission such as NOx, CO and also improve the thermal efficiency and reduced noise and thermal stress of the combustion system. This MILD combustion is known to be formed under a low oxygen concentration condition by diluting the oxidizer and the fuel through strong recirculation of the combustion product gas in the combustion process. In this work, we studied experimentally on the formation of methane MILD combustion under condition of high dilution by burnt gas generated from a first premixed flame in two stage combustor which consists of first premixed burner and secondary combustor. It is found that the burnt gas velocity and oxygen level of burnt gas have strong effects on the formation of methane MILD combustion.
